Introduction

In order to understand the strategic, unique, and targeted mission of Judicial Action Group (JAG) it is important to first understand the current lay of the political landscape in America. Justice Antonin Scalia has rightly observed that America is engaged in a culture war and a majority of the Justices on the United States Supreme Court have not only erred by taking sides in that culture war, but have taken the wrong side. Candid observers on the left and right agree that the outcome of the culture war is being decided in the judiciary.

From Our President

"The battle for the judiciary holds in balance the outcome of the current culture war raging in America."
~ Judge Charles Pickering, President Bush Nominee to U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals

In most instances, we are winning the cultural battles, but losing the cultural war. In most instances, we are winning the battles for life, the battles for marriage, the battles against child pornography, and the battles to preserve our national relationship with God. However, our legitimate victories in these cultural battles have been unscrupulously swiped by leftist judges.

A New Strategy

In decades past, we responded to these judicial defeats not by addressing the institutional problem of the judiciary's abuse of power, but rather by passing more laws that continue to promote and protect what is good only to have those additional good laws trampled by the same judicial activists that trampled our prior efforts.

Someone once said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Accordingly, the strategy has changed. JAG believes that the present state of the culture war created the need for a Special Forces unit that single-mindedly devotes itself to one mission: defeating judicial activism. JAG serves this vital niche.

JAG: Working in Coalition With Other Organizations

The excellent army that has been engaged in the culture war for decades must be maintained. JAG was created not to supplant, but to serve and supplement this outstanding army. JAG cannot and does not compete with any of the excellent organizations that work so effectively to address the great issues of our day. Instead, JAG addresses all of these great issues by addressing their common foe: judicial activism. JAG directs all of its resources toward "judicial action" and, in so doing, serves all that fight for conservative social, economic and national security policy by ensuring that our victories in these battles are preserved, and translate into a collective victory in the overarching culture war.

JAG has excellent working relationships with other organizations that frequently look to us for specialized training, research, and assistance in their efforts to fight judicial activism. Some of these organizations include Eagle Forum, Concerned Women for America, Family Research Council, the Southern Baptist Convention, Vision America, Faith2Action, Traditional Values Coalition, and members of the U.S. House and Senate, to name a few.

"Judicial Renewal" through Constitutional Checks and Balances

The Founders understood the nature of man and they anticipated judicial usurpation just as they anticipated legislative and executive usurpation. That is why they separated governmental power into three branches and empowered those separate branches with the means checks and balances to hold each branch accountable.

This American system of accountability, however, is not self-executing. It functions only if statesmen of courage take seriously their oaths to the Constitution and determine to exercise the tools that the Founders bequeathed to them.

JAG understands that judicial renewal requires three things:
1. Accountability for judges
2. Good judicial Appointments in the first place
3. Prayer

Therefore we are actively engaged in all three areas. However, because JAG recognizes that there are other excellent groups that are engaged solely in the areas of prayer and appointments, and because accountability has not received adequate single-minded attention, JAG's primary focus is on this necessary and under-addressed element of judicial renewal: accountability.

A Special Forces Unit Providing Focused, Quality Resources

JAG is a 501(c)4 non-profit corporation, operating with offices in Washington, D.C. and Birmingham, Alabama. The 501(c)4 status (unlike a tax-deductible 501(c)3 status) allows JAG to engage in unlimited lobbying, maximizing our governmental effectiveness.p> Focusing on this single issue allows JAG to provide quality and timely resources to others who want to solve the problem. JudicialActionGroup.com is significant part of that strategy, being constantly updated with news, research, tools, and action items to help you join with us in preventing judges from legislating from the bench.

JAG believes in a God of destiny and a God of timing. JAG believes that America is situated in a critical season, wherein God has given us an opportunity for renewal. Moreover, JAG believes that God desires for this renewal to come through the judiciary. JAG believes that just as the old Soviet Union fell quickly, and just as the Berlin Wall fell quickly, we too have an opportunity for the quick and sure fall of judicial tyranny and for a season of judicial renewal.
